February Challenge

Erica by Faye

Reader Faye sent in this layout - this is what she had to say about it: "I am excited to share my layout!! I think my friend Erica is a perfect 10!!!

So for this challenge I dared myself to not use any coordinating solid colored cardstock (it's kind of a staple of mine) and instead try to get 10 different patterns on one page. Here is a list of the different patterns so you can pick them out:
1) Pink flower background paper
2) Orange Polka Dot Strip
3) Pink striped Square
4) Striped Scalloped Edge (there is also a circle in this pattern)
5) Yellow Square Pattern (this is in three places)
6) Orange flowery pattered E
7) Blue flower R
8) Blue Diamond pattern i
9) Orange polka dot C
10) Pink Polka Dot A

Also fun fact... I used a total of 28 items including the pictures. If you add 2 + 8 you get 10!!!!!! Did I plan this or is it completely a coincidence? I'll never tell ;)

Thanks for the great challenge. I had a lot of fun!!!!

Don't forget to check out my blog candy...
A Little Dash of

Guest Design Team Member - Tere

Meet our Guest Design Team Member Tere. She was chosen for her submission in January.

My name is Teresa, but I go by Tere.

I’m happily married to Daniel, a wonderful guy I met during Sunday school. We have a 6 years old son named Seth.

I was born and raised in Mexico, but I’m currently living in Mesa, Arizona.

I started scrapping a little bit after my son was born. Since then I’ve collected a lot of stuff! I inherited the love for crafts form my mom. She taught me how to crochet, do cross stitch ans sew.

I love scrapping using sketches and challenges, I always find inspiration on both. I don’t think I have a style, because it depends on what I’m creating; but I do know, I like clean- simple pages. I’ve been making more cards lately, and I love stamping images and then coloring them.

One of my favorite embellishments is butterflies; I think 80% of my pages/cards have butterflies. I also love glitter, Glossy Accents and thickers. I recently decided to store my flowers by color, and I'm so happy with how well it is working for me.

We're looking forward to working with Tere in March, and can't wait to see what other projects she will contribute to Scrap Our Stash.

If you would like to become a Guest Design Team Member - check out all the details in February Challenge below. Act quickly this challenge ends at noon tomorrow.

While you're here please welcome Tere & Wendy, vote for the Valentine Challenge Contest, and check out our upcoming Special Spring Cleaning Challenge.

Meet our Guest Design Team Member -Wendy

10 Years of You

Wendy was chosen to be a Guest Design Team Member for the month of March. Here is what she told us about herself:

I started scrapbooking one July 4th. I took out a box of stuff that I had collected and dove in. By the end of the month I had completed a 0-2 book for my daughter. Since then I have been a scrappin' addict and love every minute of it! I also enjoy cardmaking and altering. I have been a Close to My Heart consultant for 3 years now and I enjoy sharing my passion with others.

On a personal note I have been a SAHM for the last 10 years and married for 13 years. This year I started stubstitute teaching. I am an active volunteer in PTA and Girl Scouts. Aside from crafting I also enjoy volleyball, reading, cross-stitch, puzzles, online games, and board games.

The project I would like to share ties in perfectly with the February 10 Challenge. I made this mini album for my daughter to celebrate her first 10 years. It's called 10 Years of You. You can see all the details here or you can also visit my blog

We can't wait to see what Wendy will contribute to our March Challenge. Be sure and come back on March 1st for the Challenge announcement.

Decorate It - by Kathy

This was a fun layout I did for the "10" Challenge. There are a total of 9 colored rectangles and then the picture makes 10.
This is a pictues of my DGS at the Children's Museum - not quite sure why the lighting did what it did - but I thought it made for an interesting picture. When I saw this quote - I thought it went with the picture...
Now it's your turn. Hurry, the challenge ends on Sunday. Check out all the details in February Challenge below.
Don't forget to vote for the Valentine Challenge Contest (upper right hand corner). And take those BEFORE pictures now - before you start your Spring Cleaning Challenge (below).

February Challenge

Tough Guy Winking at Your Mom by Joni

Design Team Member Joni said she wanted to cleanly scrap this photo of her son since it was pretty small.
He was on the baseball field, he knew she had the camera that day and he was "winking" at her....what the heck was he doing?

She used only 1 small strip of patterned paper to add some color.
She used 10 words (not counting her journaling) -- "Tough Guy", "Winking at Your Mom", "So Cool" and "Oh Boy", she used 10 rub-ons around the title and 10 mosiac tiles under the photo. She likes to think the whole title is "Tough Guy....Winking at Your Mom .... So Cool".

She said it was funny, when she explained the challenge to her son (he's 6 and in Kindergarten), he went around and counted everything she said to be sure that she"had it right". Yep, he's 6 going on 10!!!

Time is runnig out - please get your challenge in so we can post it before the end of the month. See all the details in February Challenge below.

Also, don't forget to vote for the Valentine Challenge finalists in the upper right hand corner.

And check out the upcoming Special Spring Cleaning Challenge too.

Special Valentine Challenge

Romeo by Marlene

Reader Marlene submitted this cute card.

This is "Romeo" (a digital image from Sunshine's Stamps). I used a lot of stickles to dress him up.
I added some bling, and used my Martha Stewart punch for the heart shaped borders.

(There are also three brads hidden in there...see if you can find them!) I like to use "non-traditional" colors for themed cards. :)

Now it's your turn - get your projects in soon. Deadline is midnight on Sunday.

Special Valentine Challenge

Once in a Lifetime - by Mardi

Reader Mardi sent the following layout - for the Challenge.
PICTURE HERE

The journaling reads:
Once In A Lifetime
Once in a lifetime,
you find someone special,
your lives intermingle,
and somehow you know . . .
This is the beginning
of all you have longed for,
a love you can build on,
a love that will grow . . .
Once in a lifetime,
to those who are lucky,
a miracle happens
and dreams all come true--
I know it can happen,
it happened to me, for I've found
my "once in a lifetime"
with you.

Heart Card by Tere

Guest Team Member Tere submitted this card for the Valentine Challenge.

"I stamped the image and colored it with distress inks and a water fountain pen.

Then I inked the whole image with the same colors I used in the hearts and flowers. To get the shinny finish I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist. The heart in the middle is a homemade button. "

Watch for an upcoming Frugal Friday tip on how to make these buttons.

Now it's your turn - see all the details below in Special Valentine Challenge.

Can't wait to see your Valentine / Love project!

Special Valentine Challenge

Love by Rachel H.

Explosion scrapbook by Laurie

"This is a project that I made last year for my boyfriend, now husband, for Valentine's Day. I found a tutorial about explosion scrapbooks online and it looked simple enough to do. I thought this would be a great way to showcase pictures of our dating years, as it would be the last Valentine's Day as a dating couple. Using various papers from my stash and American Crafts rub-on letters, I chose to highlight some of the best qualities I liked about him. I also like that the explosion scrapbook is so easy to store, folds right up to be the same size as a card!

40 By Christine

"What speaks more of love than 40 years of marriage??....well, maybe 50, 60, or 70 but we haven't had that many yet. I don't like this page, I am struggling with the photos and the book I am trying to put together. I know the recipients will be happy with whatever i do, I just wish I liked it better.
This is my oldest sister's 40th anniversary. Their kids threw them a surprise party and we were happy to be able to make the event. Here's to 40 more....they would only be 98 and 99!!!"

$$Frugal Friday Tip$$

Faux Mats by Kathy
This is a very simple tip that saves paper 0r in some cases stretches your paper.

Instead of putting a piece of 7" by 12" blue cardstock behind the 3 pictures in this layout - I cut two 1/2 x 12" strips and butted them right up against the pictures - so it looks like the pictures are matted. A savings of a 5 x 12" piece of paper.

Another example is in the "Where is your Popcorn" layout. The red and white striped paper was actually only 8 1/2 x 11 - so by cutting it into strips and butting it up against the pictures it appears that the stripped paper goes all the way across the 12" page under the pictures, but actually it is 4 strips glued above and below the outside pictues. Because it was not wide enough to reach across a 12 x 12 page I actually pieced it behind the center picture.

The title word Popcorn is an example of an earlier Frugal Friday tip on how to do fake chipboard letters . To learn how, go to Labels on the sidebar and click Frugal Friday tips to see all the tips.

If you use any of the Frugal Friday tips posted here on Scrap Our Stash - please submit a picture. We'd love to post them.

If you have a frugal tip you would like to share please email it along with a picture to scrappinpsycho@live.com. It could be our next Frugal Friday Tip!

Special Valentine Challenge

Multiple Layouts by Monica

Guest Design Team Member Monica had the following Valentine / Love items to share.

My forever valentine- is a lo she created a few years ago. It is a picture of her and her husband that was taken at a friend's wedding.

Swak- a fun picture or her and her husband that she also made a while ago.

Valentine's 09- is a picture of the tulips her dh sent to her at work last year. She said she had to document this because it was the first time he sent her flowers to work! She loved it!

This frame was a gift she made for her cousin. She got the frame from Michael's for $1 and she used some old paper and a few embellishments! She said this was a very cheap but fun gift idea!

Ok now it's your turn. Check out all the details in the Special Valentine Challenge post below. Remember, your projects do not have to be newly created! Let's see them!

Special Valentine Challenge

Valentiney Layouts by Joni

Design Team member Joni contributed these valentiney layouts that she has completed lately.

Now it's your turn - see all the details in Special Valentine Challenge below.
Heart Box by Amy

Design Team Amy created this heart candy box. The box is made by martha stewart and she got it for 90% off a couple of years ago. It was plain white, so she covered it with patterned paper and painted the edges. She cut the red heart with her cricut and outlined it with stickles. Next she glued it to her layered papers of brown glitter and cream cardstock. Then she painted the chipboard letters "Jason" with brown paint and covered them with glossy accents.

Now it's your turn to share your valentine - check out all the details below in Special Valentine Challenge. We'd love to see what you've created.
